The First Harvest

We are excited to announce the successful first harvest on The Farm!

On October 7th, 2024, the Alfajiri staff and community participated in the harvest of nearly 300 kilograms of fresh produce. The Missionary Fathers of Charity blessed the produce before the harvest took place.

Currently, beneficiaries of our programming, tend to three acres of fertile farmland and one greenhouse. Here they grow various vegetables, fruits, and herbs which are then sold to a wholesaler. Our produce will be in grocery stores and markets around Nairobi. This project was designed to ensure a sustainable future for Alfajiri and our programming. We are working to expand the operation by building more greenhouses to increase output and productivity.

The Farm is managed by Ian Mwangi, a beneficiary of our program and former street boy, in conjunction with a farming consultant. The farm's purpose is to generate income and provide professional experiences for our community. The boys who work on the farm will learn lifelong skills they can carry into their bright futures.

As was noted, we are looking to expand The Farm's operations. Any amount of financial support will allow for this to happen! Thank you for your generosity.
