Juma

Juma is a Kenyan painter whose raw and expressive work captures the realities of ghetto life alongside landscapes, animals, and dreamscapes. Born and raised in Nairobi’s Mathare slum, he overcame poverty, loss, and years on the streets to develop his talent through Alfajiri Street Kids Art. Since then, he has exhibited internationally in France, Germany, and the U.S., with a notable large-scale painting of Mathare displayed at the Australian High Commission residence in Nairobi. A regular exhibitor at the Nairobi National Museum, Juma uses his art as both self-expression and a powerful tool for advocacy and change.
