A Path Toward Sustainability and Empowerment
As part of our long-term strategy to achieve financial sustainability and deepen our community impact, Alfajiri is developing a small-scale organic farm focused on high-demand, high-value crops. This initiative is designed not only to generate income, but also to create job opportunities for street-youth who are part of our rehabilitation and outreach programs.

Currently, we cultivate:
-
Avocado
-
Basil
-
Bell Peppers
-
Oregano
-
Rosemary
-
Tarragon
-
Thyme
-
Zucchini
Social Impact
More than just a farm, this project is a social enterprise that enables Alfajiri to:
-
Employ youth directly, offering them dignified work, structure, and skill-building
-
Reinvest farm profits back into our core programs (art, mentorship, outreach, and rehabilitation)
-
Reduce dependence on donor funding by creating a self-sustaining revenue stream
-
Integrate sustainable agriculture into our broader mission of beautifying and healing our community in Mathare
This farm is both a symbol and tool of transformation—helping young people rebuild their lives from the soil up.
