Odongo has been painting with Alfajiri for two years. He is eager to learn and even more so, to put his bright hopeful designs on canvas. Odongo began painting purple hearts, wounded hearts, speaking of his experience which were exhibited and collected in America. He moved to imaginative landscapes and skyscapes. Artistic expression and painting is slowly healing him and helping re-frame his life and direction. He has recently been a subject of a documentary film advocating for people enduring slum life in Mathare. During screenings in Nairobi Odongo took part in panel discussions, all of which have increased his feeling of self and helped him know the importance of his story and his voice. He is committed to his family and sisters and hopes to support them when he is on his feet completely.. Odongo is featured in the third chapter in the link below
