On October 25, 2024, 13 individuals graduated from the Street Business School program, hosted by the team at Alfajiri.
These emerging entrepreneurs spent six months studying the economics and management skills needed to start a small business. The curriculum was adapted from the Street Business School Program - a program that supports communities worldwide. The course was led by instructors Bertolia Alegana and John Paul Wasiro and was hosted at the Alfajiri drop-in center. The graduates, now equipped with the tools to run a successful business, are selling clothing, groceries, and other goods. One graduate is running a small restaurant. This will provide steady incomes and help alleviate the burdens of poverty. These businesses are located throughout Nairobi County.
The graduation ceremony was attended by friends, family, Alfajiri staff, and other special guests. There were several speeches of congratulations and encouragement, dancing, and a live performance of the Alfajiri Music team's upcoming song 'Hustle.' Following the ceremony, all in attendance were invited to lunch.
This program inspires us to keep working for economic equality and justice, one person at a time.
